SK Hynix is one of the leading flash storage manufacturers in the world and this will be the first of their new SATA SSD products, which I honestly wonder why it took them so long to release. The product will be called the Gold S31 and is the first of their new SuperCore series of consumer SSDs which SK Hynix says is their internal drive lineup based on their core technology.
They have also said that SK Hynix’s Gold S31 will be a perfect choice for all PC users, particularly for gamers, designers, and content creators. Gold S31 pushes the limits on high-performance SSDs, providing users the next level of speed with sequential read speeds up to 560 MB/s, as well as superior quality, reliability, and a five-year warranty.
This drive will be a standard 2.5 inch SATA III SSD using 3D NAND and is available in capacities of 1TB, 500GB and 250GB. Hynix also makes this one a bit interesting since its NAND, Controller, DRAM and firmware are all designed and produced by SK Hynix in house.
SK Hynix will be offering the Gold S31 exclusively on Amazon US for the remainder of the year but will be expanding to other markets and retailers next year when they will be releasing a PCIe version of the SSD.
Pricing And Availability
The Gold S31 will be released at $49.99, $77.99 and $123.99, for the 250GB, 500GB and 1TB respectively with a 5% coupon code for a limited time.
