In an EEC listing earlier this month, Videocardz found several motherboards listed using Intel’s new Z490, H470. Q470, B460 and H410 chipsets. This will be Intel’s first chipsets on the LGA 1200 socket and will be using their new Comet Lake-S desktop parts, which will be based on the Skylake architecture we’re all familiar with.
The company could drop the Zx70 branding all together, which frankly makes my life a whole lot easier, and I would imagine the same goes for general consumers and enthusiasts as well. They also moved the Bx50 up to Bx60 to have a higher number than AMD which could help with product differentiation and bestowing a sense of a superior product, but in short it does thankfully make it a bit harder for the average user to buy the wrong platform for their system.
The Z490 Chipset will be aimed at enthusiasts looking for overclocking and the most features possible. The H470 will be a step below, likely dropping multi-GPU and overclocking like its predecessors with the Q470 being its business focused counterpart. The B460 will likely target mid-range users who don’t intend on overclocking. Finally the H410 is the budget chipset for the remainder of the userbase.
What is interesting about this list is the lack of AORUS motherboards. This could mean that it is only a partial list. For all the motherboards shown in the listing, check the table below:
