GIGABYTE recently announced a new entry in its Tactical Gaming Monitor lineup. The AORUS CV27Q is a 27″ QHD (2560×1440) 1500R curved VA panel. They’ve upgraded their Black Equalizer technology to 2.0, which equalizes 1296 subareas individually, which allows blacks to stay dark and simultaneously not overexpose bright areas either.
To drive the 1440p at 165Hz and using HDR, the monitor supports DisplayPort High Bit Rate 3 (HBR3), which operates at 32.4 Gbit/s.
The Tactical line uses ANC (Active Noise Cancelling) which has also been upgraded to 2.0. It uses a unique IC design with microphone array to block ambient noise and also provides a 120 dB signal-to-noise ratio and supports high impedance headphones up to 600 ohm.
The 1500R curved panel helps make this 27″ panel feel more natural than a 1800R curvature, which is better-used on a 32″ or larger screen.
The AORUS CV27Q is a 1ms (MPRT) response time, 165Hz refresh rate panel. It supports 90% of the DCI-P3. It’s certified as a Radeon FreeSync 2 HDR monitor. At 400 nits, it’s only hitting the minimum brightness requirement unfortunately, but it’s a far cry better than many more-common panels.
The monitor sports an LED lighting solution on the back and has a 3-D adjustable metal stand. With the power board built in to the monitor, there’s no bulky power brick hanging on the power cord. The AORUS Dashboard comes along and is a quick and easy way to configure the various features of the monitor.
The usual gaming features of customizable crosshair overlays, a counter, a timer, and even adds some more unique features such as multi-screen alignment lines and Aim Stabilizer, which reduces the blurriness of the recoil effect in some FPS games and allows you to trace moving enemies easier.
