According to early reports, Samsung might finally be bringing their A-game to the Exynos lineup giving Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 some challenge in the ARM-Android space.
Single core (geekbench) | multicore(geekbench) | |
Exynos 2100 | 1143 | 3751 |
Snapdragon 888 | 1135 | 3794 |
The numbers are not exactly amazing If you bring in the Apple A-series chips which we covered here but still it is an improvement. We might see the Exynos do better in the graphics space as they do have a licensing agreement with AMD, I would very much like to see RDNA 2 scaled down for mobile.
This hypothetical super ARM-AMD-Exynos chips would also be a prime candidate for the Windows on the arm-based follow-up to the Galaxy Book S which has a special place in my heart.
Whimsical thinking aside we may see Exynos powering the next-gen Galaxy devices, this was teased by the official accounts as can be seen below.
It will be interesting to see what Samsung brings here, ,more so since the A-series setting the bar so high.
